Davide Lufrano Chaves
‘Davide Lufrano Chaves on acoustic guitar… beautiful guitar lines constantly rippled out through the dense textures of the music like sonic flowers – quite exquisite.’
Glyn Phillips, WorldMusic.co.uk
Davide Lufrano Chaves (1983-2013) began studying piano at the Verdi School of Music in Prato at the age of eight and later devoted himself to the guitar, remaining for many years in the class of Carlo Mascilli Migliorini, with whom he graduated in 2005. Subsequent studies for jazz guitar with Gianni Zei and Riccardo Galardini at Berklee Umbria Jazz and with Juan Lorenzo and Oscar Herrero for flamenco guitar are oriented by a passion for different musical genres and describe the broad horizon of his subsequent artistic projects. Already in the Verdi years he forms an experimental trio – Laboratorio del Sogno Lucido – and a guitar trio – La Fiaba del gatto nero – with which he performs successfully. From 2009, when he settled in the UK, he established himself as a guitarist and composer in some major British bands, playing with the world music band The Magic Tombolinos. During the time he lives in London he creates various projects: the flamenco-rumba duo De Fuego, with Edina Balczo; the acoustic tango project Tango Porteño, together with accordionist Maurizio Pala; with Latin rock singer Surianne, as well as
numerous other collaborations. Davide has played at major festivals worldwide, such as the Sziget Festival and the FT Festival, performed on TV shows such as the Rob Brydon Show, and taught guitar at the Royal Academy of London.
